Where does your Marine collagen come from?

Where does your Marine collagen come from?

Marine collagen use is on the rise and rightly so. Type 1 collagen is the most abundant source of collagen in our bodies, problem is after the age of 25 research shows that it steadily declines leaving increased wrinkles, joint inflammation and poor sleep!

Although Marine Collagen has been around for many years now studies and clinical trials are still in early stages but what they have shown so far is that Marine Collagen can help with hydrating your skin and improving skin elasticity, hair and nail quality, inflammation of the joints and improved sleep.

But with so many buzz words surrounding Marine collagen from sustainable, wild caught, freshwater to hydrolysed, its hard to really know which Marine collagen is best.

Here at Reiem we believe that how and where your Marine collagen is sourced and which fish is used is vital.

Some brands claim that they use freshwater fish so that it doesn’t place unnecessary demand on the wild caught variety. They also claim that your body will not recognise the source but it will the recognise the nutrient’s that Marine collagen provides. These are the same companies that don’t readily disclose the species of fish they use.The problem with those statements is the source and what type of fish is used plays a huge part in the quality of the nutrients your body is receiving.

Reiem Marine collagen is sourced from 100% wild caught Cod fish, it is sustainably caught and is Marine Stewardship Council certified. To carry the MSC certified emblem you must meet 3 key factors:

1. Sustainable fish stocks

Are enough fish left in the ocean? Fishing must be at a level that ensures it can continue indefinitely and the fish population can remain productive and healthy.

2. Minimising Environmental Impact

What are the impacts? Fishing activity must be managed carefully so that other species and habitats within the ecosystem remain healthy.

3.    Effective Fisheries Management

Are operations well managed? MSC certified fisheries must comply with relevant laws and be able to adapt to changing environmental circumstances.

Our Marine collagen is sourced from wild caught Cod fish from the Atlantic sea. It is free from antibiotics and other nasties and viruses that can infect freshwater or farmed fish.

Reiem was created with the wellbeing of our clients and community at the forefront, we wanted to create a transparent brand that really communicated what our ingredients and sourcing practices are. We want to empower our community to make the best-informed choices for their bodies.

Let Reiem bring out the best in you.
